Message from The Governor General:
As both Governor-General and a keen apiarist, I am delighted to be the Patron of The Wheen Bee Foundation. Australia is home to more than 2,000 species of bee and The Wheen Bee Foundation plays an important role in supporting these bees as critical pollinators of Australia’s food and native flora. With 75% of our food crops and nearly 90% of wild flowering plants depending, at least in part, on animal pollination, protecting bees and bee habitat is essential to food security and ecosystem health.
As Patron of The Wheen Bee Foundation, I look forward to supporting their valuable work and spending time with the dedicated staff, volunteers and supporters.
